Let’s Talk About Sex in Baghdad
I blogged yesterday about the return of highbrow culture in Iraq with the successful production of Romeo and Juliet in Baghdad portraying the lovers as divided by their Sunni and Shiite heritage. Well, smutty lowbrow culture is also finding its feet in Iraq.
A new TV show in Iraq called There is Someone is a chat show where the hosts have fun and chat and joke about a range of things, including sex. The material is daring, the audience is huge, the censors are grinding their teeth, the panelists have concerns for their safety. It’s interesting, brave, fun stuff.
