Naomi Wolf v Katy Perry

Check out Naomi Wolf’s fascinating attack on Katy Perry’s music video for the No 1 hit Part Of Me.  In the video, Perry discovers her boyfriend’s infidelity and so cuts her hair, joins the Marines and goes to boot camp. Wolf argues the video is offensive for a myriad of reasons. Not only does it trivialise and glamourise women’s military service (where big problems of discrimination and sexual assault exist), but the whole thing, filmed at Camp Pendleton in California with the US military’s blessing, smacks of military propoganda. Do you agree?

Check out Naomi Wolf’s article here and Katy Perry’s video here.
