Marky Mark and the War on Terror

If I was on that plane (that crashed into the World Trade Centre on 9/11) with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.’

- Mark Wahlberg, who was supposed to be on one of the 9/11 planes but fortuitously changed his flight a week earlier.

Could the tragedy of 9/11 and the subsequent tragedies of Afghanistan, Iraq, Guantanomo Bay, heightened Islamaphobia and all the other tragedies of the War on Terror been averted if Mark Wahlberg was on board? Probably not, because we’d need two Mark Wahlbergs, one on each plane. Or probably not, because I’m sure all of the people on those planes were just as brave and loved their kids just as much. Wahlberg has since apologised for being insensitive to the victims’ families.
